Caramel Apples

CaramelApples

4 medium apples
1 package (14 oz) caramels
2 Tbsp milk
1/2 cup finely chopped peanuts (optional)

Wash chilled apples and dry completely.  Remove stems and insert a wooden craft stick into each.  Butter plate or baking sheet and set aside.

Place unwrapped caramels and milk in saucepan; cook on med-low, stirring constantly until caramels are completely melted.

Roll apples, one at a time, in melted caramel sauce until well coated.  Allow excess to drip off. Roll in peanuts, if using (do this quickly before caramel has time to set). Place on buttered plate or pan.  Refrigerate at least one hour.  Enjoy!

Notes:  To help caramel stick, make sure apples are very cold and well dried.
